Books: Raising Children On
Purpose
Expanded version (c) 2006 available at all Christian
Bookstores
Sometimes the demands of life can strip away any sense
of purpose from our parenting. On days like these we wonder if there
is more to raising kids than removing peanut butter from our
preschooler's hair, sparing the cat from an untimely demise, and
talking our teen down from an hormonal high.
Proverbs 22:6 says parents are to: Raise up a child in the
way he should go.Rather than raising children by accident (from
crisis to crisis) the Bible indicates that parents are to raise
their children on purpose-according to their God-given purpose. An
easy-to-use survey tool within the book called, The DNA
(Divine Notion Awaiting) Analysis,
assesses a child's gifting and spiritual passion and determines
where they overlap. The premise of the survey, based on biblical
research and a twenty-year investigative study, is that a child's
calling is located at the place where God-given gifting and
spiritual passion intersect.
The second part of the book
helps parents to inspire in their children a desire to stay on their
God-given way. To arouse a passion for God and His will, parents are
provided with means to develop in their children a healthy capacity
to trust, an accurate perception of God the Father, and a
receptivity to God's invitation to experience Him personally.
Children benefit from the principles found in the book,
Raising Children On Purpose five ways:
|
1. Children grow up highly motivated- their avocation
will become their vocation 2. They become peak
performers-they are trained within their area of gifting 3.
They are goal oriented-they know the way they are to go 4.
They are responsible-they take charge of their future 5.
They are passionate about Jesus-they know the Way-Maker
personally

Way - survey booklet (12 pages) |

Discover your children's
God-given calling and raise them to fulfill it! Designed for parents
and Christian educators of children ages seven to eighteen, the
survey reveals your child's God-given calling by assessing unique
gifting and interests, then locating where these components overlap.
It is here at the crossroads of gifting and spiritual passion that
the "way a child is to go" is discovered. The survey is not meant to
predict a specific vocation for your child-it is not a career
placement tool, though it may supplement such instruments. The
assessment tool can, however, serve as a guide for parents who seek
to raise their children according to their "way"-their God-given
calling. Children who are encouraged to pursue what they like to do
and what they are good at will obviously exhibit motivation and
excellence in their performance. God knows the plan He has for your
children, and He promises to be available to help you find it-Jere

Hey Mom, What
Are You Serving For Destiny?, Saturday
Seminar
|
Unmet emotional needs from childhood
can hamstring a life. Homes that serve an ample
supply of approval, affection, protection, for
instance, are more likely to raise confident and
resilient children than those that withhold it. But
what if, as parents, our emotional plates were never
filled? What if we are still hungry for approval,
affection and safety as adults? How can we give away
something we never received? Many of us grew
up in homes in which there was a "love deficit" and
now struggle with attitudes and behaviors that emotionally
handicap our own children. How do we break the cycle?
Your Father in heaven offers you the opportunity to be loved
by a perfect parent. He wants to re-parent us. By learning to
receive the Father's love, our need for affirmation and
security can be met. You no longer have to serve your family
from an empty plate. You can offer them the love and strength
they need as you draw from the parent-child relationship
your heavenly Father seek to establish with you. Get the

Raising Fearless Kids in
Frightening Times, Saturday
Seminar
How can parents help their children to
overcome the fears they face in daily life? Bullies, peer
ridicule, report cards, and divorce can make a child's
world an anxious place. Besides comforting our
children when frightening events occur, how can we give our
kids the tools they need to manage fear on their own? How can
we teach our children to overcome fear in their lives and
replace it with faith in God? Help you children develop the
spiritual and emotional skills they need to overcome fear
with faith.
1. Develop
a capacity to trust in your child so that he is willing
to receive comfort and advice from you and from God. 2.
Help your children to identify and name their feelings.
Helping your children to acknowledge fear is the first
step in overcoming it. 3. Identify underlying beliefs that
cause fear so your children can manage it. 4. Help
children come up with their own plan for handling fear. Build
confidence and empower your children to overcome it. 5.
Learn to be a better model as you trust in God during times of
uncertainty and fear. 6. Control the flow of fear
provoking information into your home and help your child
interpret it accurately.
QUOTES from workshop: "A fearless
child is not without fear, he is simply without cause to fear.
He will still experience fear, but he has the power to disarm
it by dismissing the belief system that sustains it and find
the comfort and support he needs through the help of
others."
" Kids don't
need tougher skin, they need sounder minds." (See 2 Tim
1:7)"
